Summary: The Engineering Intern will support cross-functional engineering efforts across manufacturing, materials, and product development. This role provides hands-on exposure to aerospace hardware, including thermal protection systems, composites, and soft goods fabrication, while contributing to real-world projects that impact production and R&D initiatives.

This is a 10-week summer internship program requiring full-time, onsite participation in Ontario, CA

Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering team with design, testing, and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist in development and documentation of manufacturing processes (work instructions, SOPs, travelers)
  • Participate in materials evaluation and testing (thermal, mechanical, or environmental as applicable)
  • Collaborate with production teams on root cause analysis and continuous improvement (Lean/5S)
  • Contribute to CAD modeling, drawings, and design updates (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for engineering projects
  • Support prototype builds, validation testing, and product qualification efforts


Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Completed at least sophomore year by Summer 2026
  • Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals (thermodynamics, materials, mechanics)
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Ontario, CA for the duration of the 10-week program


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous internship or hands-on project experience (FSAE, rocketry, labs, etc.)
  • Exposure to:
    • Composites or thermal protection systems
    • Aerospace materials (metals, honeycomb, ablatives, textiles like Kevlar/Nomex)
    • Manufacturing processes (CNC machining, cutting, bonding)
  • Experience with GD&T, MBD, or DFM principles

Job Details:

 

Schedule: Part-time on a project basis, approximately 10 hours per week 

Job type: Unpaid internship

Location: Onsite in Ontario, CA


Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
