MEDIA OPERATIONS FELLOWSHIP
Mogul & Co. | Chicago, IL (Hybrid) | Part-Time | $20/hr | Up to 8–10 Weeks
Who We Are
Mogul & Co. is a media intelligence company redefining how brands and agencies approach advertising strategy. We sit at the intersection of data science, predictive technology, and real-world media execution — helping our clients outmaneuver the market before the play has even changed.
We’re a fast-growing, collaborative team based in Chicago and Santa Monica, driven by results and powered by curiosity. We don’t just report on what happened. We show clients what’s coming next.
About the Role
The Mogul Fellow (Internship) program is designed for emerging talent who want more than a seat at the table — they want to actually learn how the table works. As a Media Operations Intern, you’ll gain real, hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of advertising campaigns while working alongside experienced media professionals who care about your growth.
This is an ideal opportunity for students or recent graduates who are serious about launching a career in media, advertising, or marketing strategy. You won’t be making coffee runs. You’ll be in the room, in the data, and in the conversation.
Note: Responsibilities are tailored to each Intern’s learning goals and team needs.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Immersion: Learn the media and advertising landscape from the inside — social, programmatic, managed search, video, mobile, and traditional media channels.
Trend Research: Stay current on emerging platforms, technologies, and industry shifts through team briefings and independent research assignments.
Competitive Intelligence: Help collect and synthesize industry news, competitive insights, and consumer behavior trends into digestible formats for the team.
Vendor & Partner Exposure: Shadow meetings with media vendors and tech partners to understand how media is planned, bought, and optimized in practice.
Campaign Support: Assist with internal prep for campaign launches — organizing documents, taking notes on kick-off calls, and keeping things moving.
Consumer Insights: Support the team in gathering audience and industry research using available tools and platforms.
Strategy Sessions: Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions for campaign strategy development.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work alongside Media Operations, Data Analytics & Product, and Business Development teams.
Reporting Assistance: Help compile campaign performance data for internal and client-facing reports.
Meeting Support: Take notes and assist with follow-ups during internal and client meetings.
Performance Analysis: Learn how to read historical performance data and contribute to optimization discussions.
Documentation: Help maintain organized records of client deliverables, campaign updates, and internal materials.
Administrative Support: Provide general support to ensure smooth day-to-day team operations.
Who You Are
An Eager Learner: You’re currently pursuing or have recently earned a degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field — and you’re genuinely excited to learn how media works from the ground up.
Curious and Proactive: You ask good questions, take initiative, and don’t wait to be told what to do next. You see an open door and walk through it.
Detail-Oriented: You catch things others miss. Whether it’s a spreadsheet, a summary, or a set of meeting notes, you take pride in getting it right.
Comfortable with Tools: You’re familiar with MS Office — especially Excel and PowerPoint. Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP are a plus but not required. Canva familiarity is a bonus.
A Strong Communicator: You can hold your own in a meeting and write a clear, concise follow-up. Both verbal and written communication come naturally to you.
A Team Player: You bring a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. You make the people around you better.
Organized and Adaptable: You can manage your time, juggle competing tasks, and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
Mogul Internship Capstone Project
At the close of the fellowship, each Intern delivers a two-part presentation to the Mogul & Co. leadership team. This isn’t just a formality — it’s your opportunity to show what you’ve built, what you’ve learned, and where you’re headed.
Part 1: Fellowship Reflection
A presentation to the leadership team covering your experience at Mogul & Co. This may include:
Key takeaways from team meetings, trainings, and campaign work
New skills or tools you developed familiarity with (e.g., media research, data analysis, campaign planning)
Industry trends or insights that stood out to you
How your understanding of the media landscape evolved over the course of the fellowship
Part 2: Final Media Plan
A full-funnel media plan built from a mock brief or real-world challenge. This capstone project should demonstrate your understanding of:
Audience insights and media consumption habits
Channel selection and rationale (e.g., social, programmatic, video, search, etc.)
Budget allocation and media mix
Campaign objectives and KPIs
Creative and media synergy, including timing considerations
Basic performance measurement and evaluation ideas
Interns receive mentorship and guidance throughout the program to help prepare for this project. We encourage you to ask questions, explore unconventional ideas, and take creative risks.
