What You Will Do *
The intern will support the EHS team in promoting a safe and compliant work environment while gaining exposure to occupational safety, environmental compliance, and industrial operations through the following activities:
- Support a safety project focused on reducing slip, trip, and fall (STF) incidents at the El Segundo site, including implementing new RTX STF requirements
- Support safety campaigns and projects aimed at preventing workplace injuries and reducing risk
- Assist with routine safety inspections and hazard assessments across assigned areas
- Review and organize EHS documentation, procedures, and training materials
- Analyze safety data to identify injury trends, recurring hazards, and opportunities for improvement
- Shadow EHS professionals during inspections, investigations, and improvement projects to gain hands-on experience
- Conduct labeling checks, signage verification, and basic compliance walkthroughs to ensure adherence to safety standards

- Skill Development: Enhance observation, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Incident Management: Gain insight into how EHS professionals investigate incidents and implement effective corrective actions
Qualifications You Must Have *
- Currently enrolled in high school with an interest in EHS, engineering, science, or related fields
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and ask questions when needed
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Basic computer skills, including use of email and Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to work onsite at the El Segundo, CA location
Qualifications We Prefer
- Coursework or extracurricular activities related to science, engineering, environmental studies, or technical subjects
- Interest in workplace safety, environmental protection, or hands-on learning in industrial settings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, including comfort interacting with employees across different roles
- Curiosity and motivation to learn about EHS concepts, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to stay organized and manage tasks with guidance from EHS mentors

Onsite: Employees in onsite roles work primarily at a company location. This includes production and maintenance employees, who are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.This role is a U.S.-based role.
