About The Company
Pima Association of Governments (PAG) is a federally designated metropolitan planning organization, that manages and coordinates cross-jurisdictional transportation planning, environmental planning and technical services with PAG members: the Cities of South Tucson and Tucson, the Towns of Marana, Oro Valley and Sahuarita, Pima County, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Governor-appointed Pima County representative of the Arizona State Transportation Board. The RTA was established in 2004 and is the fiscal manager of the 20-year RTA plan and half-cent excise tax, which were individually approved by Pima County voters in May 2006.
About the Role

General Description Summary:

Pima Association of Governments is seeking an Accounting Intern to join the Finance team. Under the guidance of the Interim Finance Director, this position performs a variety of accounting duties to support the Regional Transportation Authority and Pima Association of Governments. This position requires knowledge of accounting functions. Accuracy and attention to detail is required.

Hours per Week: Up to 15

Timeline: Summer/Fall 2026

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processes invoices for payment
  • Assist with account reconciliations
  • Prepares and processes journal entries under supervision
  • Support the preparation of month-end financial reports
  • Organize and maintain financial files, records and documentation
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Department as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information
  • Perform other special projects and/or related duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial practices
  • Familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships
  • Effective organizational and communications skills. 


Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Self-motivated, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
