How We Work
This is an onsite internship in our Prague office from 15th June to 15th September. You’ll work full-time alongside researchers, designers and product teams, with plenty of in-person collaboration, mentoring and exposure to real product work.
About the Role:
As a User Experience Research Intern, you’ll support research on real consumer SaaS security products, including Norton. You’ll work with researchers, designers and product teams to understand user behaviour and help shape how our security products are designed and improved at global scale.
This internship is ideal if you’re curious about how people interact with digital products, and how user insight informs product, business and design decisions in a consumer tech company.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and conducting user research studies, including interviews and usability testing.
Support the synthesis and analysis of research data to uncover user behaviours, needs and motivations.
Contribute to the creation of research reports and presentations to share insights with product teams and stakeholders.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and workshops to help translate user insights into design decisions.
Learn and apply user research best practices and user‑centred design principles in a digital product environment.
About you:
Education:
Active full‑time student or very recently graduated in Human‑Computer Interaction, Psychology, User Experience, or related social science/design disciplines (e.g. Sociology, Ethnography) or a similar relevant field.
Experience:
Some exposure to user research or UX through coursework, projects, or prior internships is a plus, but not required.
Interest in consumer technology and SaaS products.
Skills:
Curious, analytical and motivated to understand user behaviour and decision‑making.
Strong written and spoken English; you’ll work in English daily.
Comfortable working with qualitative information (e.g. interviews, observations) and keen to learn basic analysis techniques.
(Optional) Curious about AI and emerging technologies, with a thoughtful, human‑first mindset – excited to experiment, but comfortable questioning limitations, risks and hype.
Personal Attributes:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and manage multiple tasks.
Detail‑oriented and organised, with a proactive approach to learning.
Collaborative and open, comfortable working with different disciplines (research, design, product, engineering).
Eager to take feedback, ask questions and continuously improve.
What’s next:
Your CV will be reviewed together by the recruiter and hiring manager to assess your skills, interests and how your experience aligns with the internship. If shortlisted, the recruiter will invite you to an initial conversation to learn more about your background, what’s compelling you to Gen, and walk you through the interview process.
Important Application Note
A cover letter is optional but encouraged — it will be read. Candidates who show they have read the spec and details, taken time to understand what we build, the industry we’re in and why it matters will have a clear edge.
Please include your current location (city and country) on your CV or application.
You must be an active student (or very recently graduated) and able to work onsite in Prague for the full duration of the internship (15th June to 15th September).
Gen is an equal opportunity employer, and we’re committed to fair, inclusive practices at every stage of the candidate and employee journey. Employment decisions are based on merit, experience and business needs.
