About the Role

About the Position:

The Summer Materials Management Internship is a temporary, full-time position designed for high school students interested in exploring careers in healthcare operations. This position provides structured, firsthand experience in purchasing, inventory control, and supply chain support within a rural healthcare environment.

As part of the Summer of Healthcare Internship Program, the intern will work under the supervision of the materials management team and collaborate with multiple departments across a critical access hospital and rural health clinic. The internship emphasizes learning, professional development, and exposure to healthcare systems while supporting daily operational needs.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled junior high school student entering senior year.
  • Must intend to complete all graduation requirements.
  • Must reside within or attend a school district in proximity to Riverwood Healthcare.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with medical supply management and inventory control activities. 
  • Restock supply rooms and designated storage areas to support patient care.
  • Support electronic departmental requisitions in accordance with procedures.
  • Pick and deliver supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and stocking incoming freight.
  • Participate in medical supply outdate monitoring as assigned.
