Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Fall-Winter 2026 Co-op student  in Drug Product Development (DPD), to be based in Spring House, PA. The Summer Intern will support activities related to new modality process development (CAR-T, gene therapy, etc.).

CAR-T therapies, a groundbreaking form of immunotherapy that reprogram a patient's T-cells to target and destroy cancer cells, offer promising potential for treatment of cancer.  In BTDS (Biotherapeutics Development and Supply) new modalities group at Spring House, PA, we work on process and formulation development towards clinical testing and commercialization of these therapeutics. In this position, the candidate will receive hands-on experience in many aspects of process development for these types of therapies. Projects may be tailored to the candidate's experience and interests.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the execution of lab-scale experiments related to process development of CAR-T therapies

  • Work on process development towards clinical testing and commercialization of CAR-T therapies

  • Collecting, recording, interpreting, and presenting experimental data appropriately

  • Maintaining written records of work in the form of laboratory notebooks (paper or electronic)

  • Experimental design, execution, sample submission, and data analysis/interpretation

  • Performs assigned scientific experiments with decreasing level of supervisor‘s assistance.

  • Provides input and identifies problems with scientific experiments, analyses/tasks in related areas.

  • Coordinating testing schedules, presenting results, and authoring reports

  • Ability to report data and present findings to management is required

  • Communicating progress to supervisors in a timely manner

At the culmination of the internship, the intern will have gained:

  • Exposure to the pharmaceutical industry

  • Exposure to CAR-T therapies

  • General knowledge of drug product development

  • Understanding of the relationship between formulation components and manufacturing conditions on drug product quality.

  • The candidate will receive hands-on experience in many aspects of formulation and process development for these types of therapies

Qualifications

Education:

  • Enrollment in an accredited College/Institution degree program

  • Undergraduate students: Junior or above pursuing a degree in Chemical, Biological, or Biomolecular Engineering, Biochemistry, or another related science field

Experience and Skills:

  • Cell culture and sterile technique experience, including familiarity of proper pipetting techniques

  • Experience with standard laboratory techniques and working with cell-based instruments is preferred

·       It is required that the candidate be highly organized and capable of managing/pursuing multiple projects and have good written and verbal communication skills

  • Availability to work full-time for the duration of the co-op period (6 month period) starting in September 2026

  • Must be able to provide transportation to and from the worksite

  • Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Excel
