About the Role

Electrical Engineering Intern –

Valve & Gas Management

Status: Full Time, non-exempt, Temporary

Location: Moriarty, NM

Who Are We:

Sceye is a high-growth technology company, building the next generation of instant communications, imaging and remote sensing infrastructure through stratospheric platforms. Our lighter-than-air high-altitude platform systems (LTA HAPS) are capable of maintaining position over an operational area in the stratosphere (altitudes of 18 – 21km). They can carry multiple telecommunications, imaging and remote sensing payloads, providing unique functionality, cost, environmental and societal advantages.

Our HAPS be deployed in a matter of days and at a fraction of the cost of traditional infrastructure solutions. This makes them an ideal solution for providing telecommunications connectivity, emergency solutions in the event of natural or other disasters, environmental and infrastructure monitoring, Earth observation and a range of defense applications.

Our customers & partners include some of the largest global telecommunications companies, infrastructure operators, climate researchers, civil and defense agencies. At Sceye, we aim high, and we want you to join us at the stratospheric edge of innovation. As part of our mission-driven team, you’ll contribute to building breakthrough technologies that are changing the way we connect and observe the world. We are looking for individuals who bring not only deep expertise but also bold vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

About the Position:

Sceye is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our Valves & Gas Management Team during Summer 2026. This internship will focus on supporting leak testing, component sourcing, and assembly efforts for critical gas and valve systems used in our high-altitude platforms.

This role offers hands-on experience working with aerospace hardware, contributing to system reliability, testing accuracy, and design improvements for next-generation valve systems.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Support leak testing activities during CT1 assembly to ensure system integrity
  • Assist in sourcing components and parts for the next revision (REV2) of valve designs
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support valve and gas system development
  • Provide hands-on support during critical phases of assembly to help meet build timelines
  • Assist with documentation of test procedures, results, and assembly processes
  • Work cross-functionally with valve and simulation teams to improve efficiency during peak assembly periods

Project Focus:

The primary project centers on supporting valve system testing and assembly, including:

  • Performing and supporting leak testing during system integration
  • Assisting with sourcing and evaluation of components for updated valve designs (REV2)
  • Supporting assembly surge efforts during critical build phases
  • Contributing to system reliability and performance through hands-on testing and support

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Basic understanding of fluid systems, pressure systems, or gas handling (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, testing, or assembly work
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and mechanical components
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
