About the Role

Non-Formal Education Program Coordinator

 

Location: Ottawa, ON (Head Office), hybrid.
Reports to: Non-Formal Education Manager

Salary Range: $17.60/hour

Position Overview 

Working under the direction of the Non-Formal Education Manager, the Non-formal Education Assistant will support with research and program development for the WILD Futures program focussing on supporting youth in green jobs.

Wild Futures is a CWF program for youth that informs youth about and galvanizes them to consider green & conservation career opportunities and opens their eyes to a sector/industry that they may not know as much about. This program has various facets to help youth discover the many possible careers available in conservation.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Researching green jobs information – Deep dive into sector, identifying resources, contacts, post secondary information, job centres, job boards, guidance councillor lists, possible partners, job fair lists, green jobs conferences etc. that aligns with Wild Futures mandates. 
  • Help develop Green Jobs/Wild Futures information packages for Guidance councillors and career centres. 
  • Plan and develop possible Wild Futures webinars.
  • Supporting the development of Wild Futures content and sessions for virtual conference. 
  • Help develop and curate content for Wild Futures communications.
  • Support delivery and follow-up for virtual and in-person events and workshops, including tracking registration, sending information out to participants, processing event data and forms, and sending follow-up emails.
  • Provide logistical support for Wild Futures program activities, including scheduling, venue coordination, and resources management.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by responding to Wild Futures program inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Set up and liaise with guest speakers and presenters for Wild Futures virtual conference regarding event logistics (scheduling, tech support, etc.).
  • Work with Marketing and Communications department to ensure webpages for Wild Futures program are up to date.
  • Assisting with data management for Wild Futures program using Microsoft Excel, SurveyMonkey, Eventbrite and other digital platforms as required. 
  • Other tasks as assigned. 

Education, Experience, and Abilities

  • Pursuing post-secondary degree in Education, Communications, environmental science or related field of study
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong research, review and editing skills 
  • Experience with data management
  • Independent self-starter
  • High attention to detail 
  • Organized
  • Critical thinking and problem solving 
  • Effective time management 
  • Proficient in standard business software (e.g., MS Office, Databases, etc.)
  • Interest in environmental education 
  • French language an asset

Eligibility

This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, a youth employment program of the Government of Canada. All candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. 
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and;
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and territorial legislation and regulations. 

Work Conditions

  • Full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday for 30 hours per week. 
  • Location: Head Office based in Ottawa, ON. Hybrid flexibility to work from home twice per week.
  • Relatively constant sitting at a computer and use of peripherals.
  • May experience mental stress due to interruptions or last-minute requests.
