Position Summary

As a Medical Records Intern at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, you will be responsible for assisting in different areas and completing tasks in the Medical Records department. You will file medical records and assist with answering phones and greeting patients as needed.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • File medical records.
  • Direct patients to the correct areas to check-in for their appointments.
  • Assist with mail, deliveries, forms drop offs, etc.
  • Answer patient phone calls and direct them to the correct people/OAM offices.
  • Access NextGen and Phreesia platforms as needed.


Required & Preferred Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Required:
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Preferred:
    • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
    • Student in school for a healthcare related role.

Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining very detail-oriented.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.

Motor, Sensory, and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasional ending, stooping, lifting, and reaching required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (on rare occasions).
  • Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.
  • Must have normal or correctible range of hearing and eyesight.
