About the Role

The Opportunity

Olympic Industries is excited to offer a highly motivated and passionate individual the opportunity to join our growth-oriented team as a Commodity Trader Intern for a 4-month term beginning September 2026.

This internship is designed around three core objectives: supporting the organization's logistics function, engaging in a robust trader training program, and building relationships with traders across the company. It is a training opportunity for individuals interested in exploring a long-term career in lumber trading, offering an inside look into the fast-paced world of commodity markets.

As a Commodity Trader Intern, you’ll play a key role in supporting our logistics operations — not just to execute tasks, but to gain a deeper understanding of how supply chains function, how freight markets fluctuate, and how transportation decisions impact trading outcomes. You’ll work side-by-side with experienced traders, engage in structured learning, and build industry relationships that offer real insight into the business of commodity trading.

Who We’re Looking for

  • Working toward or have completed a Degree or Diploma in Business or a related field. We’re also open to other educational backgrounds with relevant skills or experience.
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced environments, where adaptability, urgency, and attention to detail are key.
  • A competitive, entrepreneurial mindset: you're driven, proactive, and energized by the challenge of finding better ways to do things.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate across teams and build working relationships quickly.
  • A background in competitive sports or similarly high-performance settings. A plus that shows you're resilient, goal-oriented, and team-minded.

What You’ll Do

This internship is built around three core objectives: improving efficiency in trucking solutions, engaging in a comprehensive training program, and growing your professional network in the trading industry. As a Commodity Trader Intern at Olympic Industries, you will:

  • Support and improve freight efficiency by executing time-sensitive logistics tasks such as tracking shipments, negotiating spot rates, and coordinating with carriers — all while learning how freight markets impact supply chain decision-making.
  • Explore how transportation decisions shape trade outcomes by working closely with logistics and Traders to understand transportation lanes, cost dynamics, and timing challenges.
  • Research and prospect new freight partners to expand our network and create more cost-effective and responsive trucking solutions.
  • Participate in structured training to learn the fundamentals of commodity trading, logistics strategy, and market behavior.
  • Build meaningful connections across departments to develop your network and uncover future career opportunities.
