About the Role

The Position

The Intern will be joining the Legal Team for a six months’ full time internship program, starting from July to December 2026. The Intern working in collaboration with APAC, and global counsel, associates and administrative staff of the Legal, Compliance & Risk department.  The Intern will contribute to both ongoing initiatives and new short-term projects, regulatory developments, corporate governance, and counterparty documentation related to equity, fixed income and derivatives transactions. As part of a group of legal services professionals, the Intern will work with a variety of other internal and external professionals, including Client Platform, Global Trading, and Operations in providing client documentation, researching internal information, and researching regulatory requirements.

The internship is designed to develop students hires through an apprenticeship model that offers extensive one-on-one interaction with seasoned employees throughout Wellington. This also provides an opportunity to experience in-house legal work while also learning about the intricacies of investment management in the financial services sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We anticipate work to be dynamic, and responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Client and Entity Document Review, Production and Research

  • Database Population & Document Management

  • Gap Analysis

  • Record Retention

  • Signature Coordination

  • Legal & Regulatory Research

Qualifications/ Skills

The candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student in Law, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline, ideally in the second or penultimate year of study.

  • Prior internship experience or exposure is required (prior legal experience would be advantageous)

  • Familiarity with legal writing or document review would be an advantage

  • Able to commit to a full-time internship from July through December 2026

  • Demonstrated accomplishments in academics, community service, and/or extracurricular activities.

  • Highest ethical standards and integrity

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • An eagerness to learn, and interest in financial markets

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with an ability to prioritize ongoing and time sensitive goals

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in Asian language skills is advantageous

  • Students must have Hong Kong work authorization to be considered for the role.
