We are looking for
Student Communications Assistant (f/m/d)
(part-time - 20 hours per week)
to start in June 2026. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in communications and events targeted at academic, policy and practice communities. ISDC’s communications team drives impact by disseminating research and facilitating cross-sectoral connection.
Background
Your responsibilities
Supporting the management of ISDC’s websites and contact databases;
Contributing to the organisation of events, such as our flagship Fragile Lives conference and (online) seminars; and
Assisting in the production of content for ISDC’s social media channels.
We think you’d be a great fit if you
- Are currently enrolled as a student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in a communications degree or a topically-relevant degree (such as political science, peace and conflict studies, development studies, or similar) with demonstrated communications interest;
- Have some experience with and enjoy supporting in-person and online events, preferably in an academic or policy setting;
- Have first experience with managing databases and/or CMS systems (WordPress or similar);
- Enjoy designing presentations and graphics for seminars, events, and social media (using Canva or similar);
- Write and speak English at an excellent (minimum C1) level; and
- Are based in the wider Berlin area.
Qualificatons and key competencies
What you’ll gain by working with us
- Hands-on experience in communications for a leading international research institute with a diverse group of donors and partners;
- A 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension, working up to 20 hours per week;
- 15,08 Euro gross per hour;
- Flexible work model; including the opportunity to work remotely from abroad for 3 weeks per year;
- 30 days of annual leave and additional days off additional days off on 24 and 31 of December (full-time equivalent); and
- An exciting and collaborative working environment in a modern office space near S+U Wedding station.
