Gardner-Webb University is seeking a dedicated and driven Graduate Intern for Athletic Performance to join our team. This role is designed for an aspiring strength and conditioning professional looking to gain hands-on, high-level experience in a collegiate setting. Under the mentorship of the Director of Athletic Performance, will be responsible for the design and implementation of performance programs for specific sports teams. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between sports science and practical application, and be aligned in our department's mission of developing student-athletes physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The Graduate Athletics Intern – Athletic Performance position includes the following responsibilities:
· Under the guidance and director of the Director of Athletic Performance design and implement programs to meet the needs and goals of the athletes and solely responsible for specific sports programs.
· Conduct assessments to identify any areas of improvement for a student athlete.
· Integrate injury prevention techniques into programs and work in partnership with Athletic Training staff on injury-specific rehab.
Requirements of the Graduate Athletics Intern – Athletic Performance:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in exercise science, sports administration or another sports/exercise-related field.
· Working toward a nationally accredited certification in strength and conditioning by either the NSCA CSCS and/or the CSCCA SCCC
· Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
· Must be willing to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends; travel with teams if time allows.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Commitment to Gardner-Webb University Mission and Values, including the responsibility to develop the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of athletic and personal performance.
