Position Summary:

The Research Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a research project investigator and the Director of Medical Physics. As an integral member of the NYPC team, the Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting one or several assigned clinical projects and work closely with other research team members to move the project forward. The Research Assistant will assist Department Leaders with department focused assignments during their temporary assignment. This is an unpaid internship.


Training and Responsibilities:

The training provided pursuant to this internship is for the benefit of the intern.

  • Work collaboratively with NYPC Department Leaders across all participating divisions to execute key deliverables
  • Provide administrative support by performing general administrative duties including, data entry, filing, record keeping, etc.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, challenges, and possible solutions
  • Meet with the assigned supervisor to gain a clear understanding of the projects, their goals and expected outcomes as well as maintain a timeline for the assigned projects
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Perform clerical/organizational work, quality control, and budget management, if needed
  • Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Must be a College or Graduate Student, or above, major in STEM
  • High degree of organizational talents, data collection and analysis skills
  • Able to balance multiple priorities effectively and consistently
  • Ability to take ownership, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Hands on experience with medical software and MS Office
  • Must have a strong commitment to patient experience and customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Programming skills preferred
