About the Role

Position Description: 

This position is an opportunity to gain exposure to the Ameritas IT environment and architecture related processes.  The intern role will be responsible for tracking and updating information about API integrations and relevant point of contact data for API owners within the Abacus system.  Have an enterprise-wide impact by ensuring that I.T. associates know who to contact with questions on integration questions on a particular API.  Depending on candidate technical knowledge, this internship might also work on building API integrations.

 

Position Start Date: 

This internship will begin either as soon as possible or May/June 2026 depending on availability.  

 

Position Location: 

This position is hybrid in Lincoln, NE working partially in-office and partially from home.  

 

What you do: 

  • Scrub Abacus system to identify missing API owner contact information.
  • Make outreach to API owners to gather and update contact information.
  • Document findings in Abacus system.
  • Help to build out and thoroughly document the internal Ameritas library of API integrations in Abacus system.
  • Support the Ameritas technology framework taxonomy which will aid the company to organize IT assets, analyze their value, and align technology investments with business goals.  
  • Maintenance and expansion of Architecture knowledge bases through collaboration with stakeholders. 
  • Special projects may include elements of API development/integration.

What you bring: 

  • Must be enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time as defined by your institution studying Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar related field.
  • Must be able to commit to full-time hours during the summer months.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills are desired.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively desired.
  • Experience with API’s is desired.
