About the Role
Student Design Coordinator

Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment. 

What You Will Be Working On

We are seeking a student to join us for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This position will be based out of Mississauga, ON.   

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals as part of integrated design-build teams to support design development

  • Assist in reviewing technical drawings and specifications.

  • Participate in team meetings, take meeting minutes, contribute to project planning, coordination, and problem-solving discussions

  • Support in researching materials, construction techniques, and building codes to ensure compliance and quality in design.

  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, design reports, and presentations.

  • Monitor design progress to ensure alignment with project requirements, schedule, and workplans, including tracking and documenting design changes

  • Support the maintenance of design schedules and coordinate the timely delivery of design team outputs.

  • Take on additional responsibilities or tasks related to construction design as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • You are currently enrolled in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Structural, or Industrial Engineering program 

  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher 

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Studio, Revizto and Smartsheet is considered an asset

  • Demonstrate strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks, take initiative, manage time and priorities effectively

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Interest in construction processes and project management

  • Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently 

  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills 

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude 

  • Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries 

  • If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
