About the Role

Family Haven is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to building a community of happy, healthy individuals and families through the prevention and treatment of child abuse and trauma. With locations in Orem and Lehi, we provide a range of family support programs designed to strengthen relationships and promote long-term well-being.


This education internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support our educational programs for parents and children. Interns assist with teaching group parenting classes, providing one-on-one parent coaching, delivering school-based abuse prevention education, and supporting our Parent Leadership Committee. This role is ideal for students interested in gaining practical experience in education, social services, or family support while making a meaningful impact in the community.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teach group parenting classes using Family Haven’s evidence-based curriculum
  • Provide one-on-one parent coaching and support using the parenting curriculum
  • Deliver school-based abuse prevention education lessons to students
  • Assist and support the Parent Leadership Committee in planning and implementing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Students with coursework in Education, Family Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields
  • Enrollment in a program is preferred but not required; relevant coursework is required
  • Commitment of at least 12 weeks, up to a maximum of two semesters
  • Availability to participate in-person, primarily evenings (5–8 PM) and some daytime hours
  • Expectation of approximately 10-12 hours per week



Supervision


Interns are supported by the Education Director or a member of her team, who provide guidance and feedback throughout the internship
