About The Company

About the Role

SUMMARY: The Lab Internship Program is designed to support operational efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability initiatives within the laboratory at Seaboard Energy. This internship will provide hands-on support for daily lab operations while driving data-driven improvements in chemical usage, waste reduction, and/or energy efficiency.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Completing a department-based project as assigned by your supervisor and presenting findings to management.
  • Research/Development.
  • System Optimization

- Track material consumption by test and process

- Identify overuse or inefficiencies

- Support qualification of alternative or more cost-effective chemicals

  • Test Method Evaluation

- Review current lab testing methods

- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency or reduce cost per test

- Assist in validating updated or new testing procedures

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate proficient computer skills with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Must be detailed-oriented and have ability to prioritize multiple tasks proactively and effectively
  • Ability to effectively communicate with contributors at all levels within an organization
  • Available for 10 to 12 weeks of the summer

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment consists of office, plant production, and outside climate conditions.  Noise level varies within the production area.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday thru Friday, working hours to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
