We are fully licensed to stamp these designs as Engineer of Record and take responsibility for highly-consequential projects, from mission-critical federal facilities to complex commercial infrastructure.

The Role

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work at the intersection of traditional engineering and cutting-edge automation. You will assist in the design and analysis of high-consequence building projects while gaining exposure to the software-driven workflows that are redefining the AEC industry. This role is designed for a high-intensity student or recent graduate who is eager to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

Location

Austin, TX or New York, NY - Primary preference for Austin or NYC; remote-eligible for exceptional candidates with a proven track record.

Core Responsibilities

• Design Support: Assist in performing structural design calculations for steel, concrete, and timber elements under the guidance of senior engineers.

• Modeling & Drafting: Support the development of 3D Revit models and 2D construction details, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project standards.

• Structural Analysis: Help set up and run basic models in industry-standard software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM.

• Quality & Coordination: Participate in interdisciplinary reviews and assist in the preparation of technical design packages and specifications.

• Workflow Iteration: Contribute to the testing and refinement of internal automation tools, providing feedback from an engineering perspective.

Requirements

• Education: Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a BS or MS in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Technical Foundation: Strong understanding of structural mechanics and familiarity with building codes (ASCE 7, AISC, ACI).

• Software Familiarity: Basic proficiency in Revit and exposure to structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, or similar).

• Intensity & Speed: A proactive "builder" mindset with the ability to learn quickly and iterate in a high-pressure environment.

• Attention to Detail: A commitment to precision, recognizing that every calculation feeds into a larger, automated ecosystem.

Bonus Qualifications

• Computational Interest: Familiarity with Python, Dynamo, or Grasshopper for automating engineering tasks.

• Advanced Coursework: Completion of advanced steel and concrete design courses.

• Prior Internships: Previous experience in a structural design office or a construction-related environment.

• EIT Certification: Enrollment in or completion of the FE exam.
