Summary
Under direction of the Quality Specialist and/or the Quality Manager, the Quality Intern support various projects and initiatives within the Quality department. Projects include process documentation, value stream mapping, routing changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Develop standard templates for process documentation – In order to standardize the activity and gain alignment across the plants, the Intern works with the Quality Manager to develop the correct template that will allow to replicate processes ad-hoc by plant team.
- Develop Value Stream Map current state for Manufacturing Plants – In conjunction with the Quality Engineer, the Intern develops VS analysis by plant, visually depict all areas in a Visio diagram to clearly identify process steps, hand-offs, etc.

Education and/or Experience
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
- Currently a sophomore or later status
General Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office required. Excellent Excel skills are a plus
- Excellent communication & organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Time management skills: Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks
- Able to work well within a team, as well as work independently on projects
- Available to work full-time in the summer
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Requires the use of hearing and eye protection when in the plant. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The position works in both office and production environments. PPE is required when working in the production areas.
