About the Role

Step into a high-impact role at Community Minds, a rapidly growing outpatient mental health clinic dedicated to making mental healthcare as accessible as possible. Our Community Engagement Internship is a 12-week immersive program designed for candidates who want to build real skills in healthcare outreach, stakeholder relationship management, and community event planning while making a genuine difference in the mental health landscape of their community.

You will work directly with senior leadership to expand Community Mind’s presence among local physicians, substance use organizations, veterans' groups, schools, faith communities, and other organizations whose clients may benefit from mental health support. This is a field-based, relationship-driven role, ideal for someone with a natural ability to connect with people, a passion for community health, and the drive to grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily structured outreach (calls, emails, and in-person visits) to local organizations across healthcare, social services, veterans' services, and community sectors.

  • Attend tabling, networking, and other events to develop your professional network and represent Community Minds at community gatherings.

  • Participate in event planning and execution to drive community engagement and clinic awareness.

  • Utilize CRM tools to manage referrer and partnership data and track recruitment metrics.

  • Develop data-driven reports and presentations to support strategic decisions.

  • Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance your skills in healthcare business development.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Management, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.

  • Academic credit arrangements available; reach out to discuss partnership with your institution.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: you are comfortable talking to strangers, handling rejection gracefully, and building rapport quickly.

  • Sales-driven mindset with some experience in sales, outreach, customer service, or community organizing highly preferred.

  • Organized and reliable: you follow through on commitments and keep accurate records.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively as part of a small, fast-paced team.

  • Reliable personal vehicle required. This role requires regular travel to partner sites, community events, and tabling engagements throughout the area.

  • Passion for mental health access, community health equity, or social services is a genuine plus; this work is more effective when it's personal.

Benefits

Compensation:

  • Monthly stipend of $1000 to cover meals and travel plus performance bonuses.

    • Motivated interns who hit their targets can earn an additional $1500-2300+ over the 3-month program.

Why this Internship?

  • Real skills, real fast: Hands-on experience in cold outreach, CRM mastery, event execution, and healthcare stakeholder management; skills that translate directly into a career in healthcare business development, marketing, or operations.

  • Mentorship & Network: Work alongside senior leadership and build a real professional network across healthcare, social services, and community organizations. Daily coaching and structured feedback from day one.

  • Mission Driven Work: You are not selling widgets. Every partnership you build expands access to mental healthcare for people who need it — veterans, people in recovery, youth, seniors, and underserved communities.

  • Path to Full Time Employment: Top-performing interns may receive a full-time job offer with a competitive salary and full benefits.
