CDLI supports these achievements on the individual and community level by offering innovative solutions and resources to achieve personal and community economic growth.

Position Summary

The HCV intern will support the Rental Assistance Department in the development of clear and concise communication materials aimed at improving engagement between landlords and program participants. The Housing Assistance Payment Contracts (HAPs) for the Landlords are a required document as part of program compliance, in addition to LL/Tenant Leases. Many of the Nassau transition files do not have these documents on file resulting in compliance risk and SEMAP deficiencies. By obtaining these documents it will greatly increase our file compliance and assist with annual recertification completion.

Project:

This project would supplement our existing resources to provide brief (~3 minutes or less) how to videos on a variety of internal and external facing topics to serve as a reference and to educate participants, landlord and staff.

 1. Assist to identify subset of landlords to reach out to based on likelihood of missing HAP/Lease documents.

 2. Draft outreach letter communicating needs; a. Original HAP and Lease or b. Most Recent Lease

3. Collect paperwork and review for completeness and file or generate updated paperwork for execution.

4. Log all outreach, received paperwork by landlord and participant.

5. Liaise with Landlords and program staff as needed.

6. Document outcomes, trends and remaining next steps.

 Requirements:  

  • Currently enrolled in an undergrad or graduate program (or recent graduates) with an interest in Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration.
  •  Specific interest/knowledge of affordable housing is a plus. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills. 
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working well with others. 
  • Proactive, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
