Manufacturing Operations – 2026 Summer Intern

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a rising junior or rising senior who is motivated to join our Trane Clarksville team as a Production Operations Intern and support daily activities on the manufacturing floor. In this role, you will assist with Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), productivity ideation, 5S initiatives, and overall daily management tasks.

The intern will gain exposure to production processes, data analysis, workflow optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, working alongside experienced operations, engineering, and leadership teams.

This role will offer an hourly rate of up to $24 is designated as on-site, Mon-Fri, putting you right in the heart of the action, offering you hands‑on experience and direct exposure throughout a flexible, 12‑week internship running from mid‑May to mid‑August.

 

EXPOSURES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with day-to-day production floor activities, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

  • Support process improvement initiatives related to productivity, quality, and workflow.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends or improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and operators to document standard work and identify bottlenecks.

  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action development.

  • Help update or create production documentation such as work instructions, process maps, and training materials.

  • Support inventory management, material flow, and logistics activities as needed.

  • Contribute to team meetings and provide insights or recommendations based on observations.

  • Assist in implementing Lean or continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Kaizen ideas, or visual management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

    • Currently a rising sophomore, junior or senior

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or shop‑floor environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other basic data analysis tools.

  • Interest in manufacturing, production systems, or operational efficiency.
