Internships @ Wealthsimple

At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians. You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!

Our internship program follows a hybrid work model, where you’ll be working from our Toronto headquarters on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This structure offers the flexibility of remote work, while also providing the collaboration, connection, and mentorship that come from being together in person.

Eligibility

✔ Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp

✔ New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date

✔ Available to work full-time hours

✔ Residing in Canada

✔ Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays

✔ At least 2 paid work terms completed

✔ Legally authorized to work in Canada (Wealthsimple does not provide immigration or relocation support for interns)

Data Science at Wealthsimple turns complex, real-world financial data into decisions, products, and experiences that help millions build wealth. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, and business leaders to design experiments, build models, and surface insights that shape what we ship — from client-facing features to growth strategies and risk policies. We give teams the insights, tools, and decision frameworks they need to ship impactful work — ensuring we’re building data-informed products our clients trust and love.

About the Teams

Risk & Financial Decision Science

Helps Wealthsimple grow responsibly by combining experimentation, modeling, and domain expertise to shape credit, fraud, and financial risk policies. This team turns complex, real-world data into clear recommendations — from detecting suspicious activity to understanding how economic conditions affect our products. If you're passionate about keeping a fast-moving fintech both safe and scalable, this is your team.

Product Decision Science

Partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to decide what we build, how we launch it, and how we measure success. This team designs experiments, defines metrics, and builds data products that explain how clients actually use Wealthsimple — validating ideas, iterating quickly, and doubling down on what works. If you're passionate about using data to tell clear stories and ship better product experiences, this is your team.

Growth Decision Science

Focuses on how Wealthsimple grows — from acquisition and onboarding to engagement, retention, and cross-sell across our product suite. This team builds models and insights that power personalization, campaign strategy, and lifecycle optimization to grow net deposits sustainably. If you're passionate about finding leverage in funnels, experiments, and growth loops — and seeing your work show up in real business outcomes — this is your team.

Our Tech Stack

• Python-first environment with Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Jupyter

• SQL for data access and manipulation across large, production datasets

• Statistical foundations across both frequentist and Bayesian approaches

• Machine learning toolkit spanning regression, decision trees, and beyond

• Experimentation infrastructure for A/B testing and causal inference at scale

The Interview Process

Applications close on May 17th at 11:59 PM EST.

Step 1 — Application + Video Submission: Apply and submit a short video response with a written transcript. Applications open May 4–17.

Step 2 — (May 19th-May 29th) Technical Interview: A 1-hour interview in Python with a technical interviewer.

Step 3 — (June 1st-June 12th) - Project Review Interview: A 30-minute conversation with one of our engineering managers about how you work and what drives you.

Step 4 — Offers start to be extended the week of June 8th
