Position Summary: 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Summer Student to join our team in a temporary full-time capacity as a Community[SR1]  Service Worker. This position provides one student with a flexible and dynamic work environment for a student pursuing studies in human services, psychology, social work, or community support to gain meaningful, hands-on experience.

The Community Service Worker delivers quality service by providing immediate and short-term assistance in meeting clients’ basic needs and employment search support. Resources are provided to support clients in becoming independent and self-sufficient. This includes providing information, referrals, post-release planning, and crisis support. The Community Service Worker provides targeted interventions to foster client involvement with interventions that will address their needs, such as education, employment training, financial support, treatment, housing, and pro social supports.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide coordinated and timely services that meet clients’ basic needs
  • Assist clients with the application process and referrals including, but not limited to, detox facilities, treatment programs, employment/educational programs, and financial assistance
  • Assist with answering calls to provide referrals and information for the Community Safety & Wellbeing Division and transfer callers as appropriate
  • Support the Division in ongoing projects that support client engagement in available programs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data collection, data entry and completing of any program assessments and surveys as directed

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Passion for supporting individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Dependable, respectful, and open to learning
  • Previous experience in caregiving, social services, or education is an asset but not required
  • A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually


Conditions of Employment:

  • Location of work: Edmonton, AB
  • Start Date: As early as June 1, 2026 (flexible)
  • Duration: 8 weeks Hours: 35 hours per week 
  • Position Type: Temporary Full-Time (Summer Student)
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the start date
  • Shifts: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
