Eligibility Note: To qualify for a student (Co-op/Internship) opportunity, students must be enrolled in their academic studies at a post-secondary institution (university/college) and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with QuadReal. If you are a student registered in an official co-op program at your post-secondary institution and completion of a final work term is a mandatory component for you to graduate, you are eligible to apply with the understanding that you will leave QuadReal at the end of your work term or have the possibility to be considered for full-time opportunities.
Based in Toronto or Vancouver, the Co-op/Intern, Business Controls, will report to the Manager, Business Controls, and directly assist the team responsible for the overall evaluation and documentation of internal controls enabling unqualified opinions on QuadReal’s Service Organization Controls Report (“SOC 1”) as well as the annual CEO/CFO certification to the QuadReal Audit Committee on the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting and other finance improvement projects.

What You Will Experience:
Support the design, evaluation and documentation of financial reporting processes, internal controls, and operating practices
Support management during the SOC 1 audit and work collaboratively with external auditors to ensure adequate project management
Support internal controls documentation in the Governance, Risk and Compliance tool Workiva
Support the drafting of reports and procedures, to ensure industry standards are met or exceeded with respect to internal controls over financial reporting
Support Internal Audit and Finance work in special projects, including advisory assignments
What You Will Bring:
Enrolled in a Business/Commerce degree program with a specialization in Finance, Information Technology or Computer Science is desired. Interest in pursuing a professional auditing, accounting, or compliance related designation (CPA/CIA/CFE/CMA/CISA/CISSP)
Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and present results that articulate key themes and messages
Ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure and manage deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands, competing priorities; willing to learn and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment; organized; detailed orientated and a self-starter
Must have advanced knowledge of Word, Power Point and Excel, including familiarity with Pivot Tables & VLook Up. Prior experience and/or interest in financial reporting systems.
Excellent communication, oral and written; able to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; able to be flexible and work with all types of personalities; able to exercise confidentiality and places a priority on client services

Previous finance, financial reporting processes and/or auditing experience strongly preferred

The expected hourly range for this role is $23-$25.
