About the Role

Student Assistant - Software Engineering

Department: Software Infrastructure

Employment Type: Internship

Location: Aalborg, Denmark

Reporting To: Lars Pedersen

Description

Ready to kickstart your career with a global tech leader?
Samsung Denmark Research Center is looking for a skilled and talented Student Assistant to join our team as soon as possible. We are looking for an in-house student to help us with a wide range of tasks, including test setups, scripting, embedded programming, and documentation.

Who we are
Samsung Denmark Research Center (SDRC) is part of the Samsung Cambridge Solution Center in England, which develops cutting-edge Wi-Fi solutions.

SDRC is proud to be a Centre of Excellence for Bluetooth development delivering solutions not only for Samsung products worldwide but also to other manufacturers of wireless technologies.

You will join the Software Infrastructure team in Aalborg. This team creates the essential software foundation that both our Bluetooth and Wi-Fi protocol software rely on. You will work in a collaborative environment with sub-teams in both Aalborg and Cambridge, giving you the chance to work with colleagues across borders.

What you’ll be doing

Your work will be varied and hands-on. Tasks can range from hardware-oriented work such as reading schematics (don’t worry if you don’t know this yet, we will teach you) - to visualizing key performance indicators in tools like Grafana.

We are looking for someone who enjoys coding in Python and perhaps has some familiarity with C-programming. Your coding tasks will be diverse, including writing tools to analyze data, identifying points of interest, and web programming to present data effectively. Ultimately, you will be working on optimizing and improving our automated systems for specialized testing.

Who you are

We think you will thrive with us if you have experience with one or more of the following:
  • Python & C-programming
  • Web programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
  • Git/Gerrit & Confluence
  • Grafana and SQL queries
  • An understanding of hardware and schematics (or a willingness to learn)

We would love to hear from you if:
  • You are independent but eager to learn and collaborate with others.
  • You want the best of both worlds: the scale of a global company combined with the freedom of a local workplace.
  • You are ready to share your knowledge and help your colleagues - we believe that we learn best together.
  • You are looking for an informal work environment with exciting tasks and a strong, social network.

The practicalities

Studies: You are likely starting your 7th or 9th semester after the summer holiday.
Start date: We would like you to start in August, if possible
Hours: We are flexible and align working hours with your studies. We ask that you work with us at least one full day a week.

What we offer
Joining Samsung comes with a range of benefits:
  • A professional and social network with great colleagues.
  • Access to many social and sporting events.
  • Free gym access and various feel-good activities in the office.
  • A staff canteen and staff discounts.
