Responsibilities

Reports to Title: Process Improvement Engineer

Under general supervision of the Process Improvement Engineer, selecting from a variety of established procedures to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities, the Engineering Intern, Process Improvement is immersed in and assists the Process Improvement Engineer for the Distribution and Configuration Center with engineering support. The Intern assists with duties utilizing Lean Principles in an on-going review of departmental procedures and practices, identifying opportunities for improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The Intern gains first-hand insight into the day-to-day processes and support duties related to the Technical Integration and Distribution Center Engineering and Organizational Excellence departmental functions. The Intern is encouraged to provide feedback for process improvement and is provided an educational/learn-by-doing opportunity to experience a front-line IT support organization and discover areas of interest and growth within the team.

Where applicable, this position assures departmental processes are performed in compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley controls.

 

Primary Job Duties• Shadows the Process Improvement Engineer in identifying, establishing, and implementing process improvement utilizing Lean Principles for all distribution center departments.• Assists in devising and reviewing specifications for products or processes, excluding technical specifications.• Leads the various teams in developing and deploying Lean Principles throughout the distribution center departments, focusing on MDI (Managing Daily Improvements).• Collaborating with the Operational Excellence team; reviews, validates and implements standards where applicable. Shadows the Process Improvement Engineer, learning how to maintain and enhance internal web-based applications for the configuration center.• Utilizes systems analysis techniques to assist in the requirements documentation and testing scripts based on agile development practices• Assists in reviewing code to enhance or add new functionality based on change request by stakeholders• Assists with database administration in the development environment only (i.e. build tables)• Assists in creating and maintaining project plans for smaller initiatives.• Completes the work breakdown structure to estimate labor hours needed to complete a project.• Monitors progress against tasks, quickly identifies tasks that are at risk of falling behind schedule and addresses the cause of delay.• Provides status reports. Assists in the support of CSC application Suite in the lab• Tests CSC applications in Dev environment only• Assists with database maintenance for development environment only (i.e. clear logs…)• Works closely with associated IT personnel and business process owners and workers.
