We welcome an ambitious Intern to join the House of Cheatham R&D team for the summer. The intern will gain hands-on experience by working with key thought and formulation leaders while contributing to the success of award-winning textured hair care brands through the responsibilities listed below.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Formulation

  • Batch formulas in HOC current product portfolios to assess new raw material compliance
  • Develop an IR catalog of HOC finished products ensuring accurate entry for accessibility and future formulation verification
  • Assist with the optimization and reformulation of current skus


Lab Operations

  • Support stability studies by preparing samples and monitoring product behavior through pH, viscosity, density, and organoleptic evaluations
  • Accurately record experimental procedures, observations, and test results in lab notebooks and digital systems
  • Establish a digital archive of past and present technical laboratory documents and reports (i.e. stability reports, IR analysis)
  • Coordinate the removal and proper disposal of completed or expired samples from incubators following laboratory guidelines
  • Follow SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) to maintain a sale and compliant laboratory environment


Production

  • Shadow process engineers during a pilot production of upcoming launches
  • Assist in supporting production batch adjustments to ensure adherence to established product specifications 


Other 

  • Assist in restocking and maintaining laboratory raw materials
  • Miscellaneous laboratory activities as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS 

  • Undergraduate student working towards a BS degree in STEM fields such as chemistry, cosmetic science, chemical engineering, biology, etc., with a strong interest in Cosmetic Science
  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices (i.e. PPE, GMP, chemical handling)
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Read, write and communicate in English
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Computer usage at a desk
  • Working in a standard chemistry laboratory
  • Occasionally working in the production environment which might be loud and warm
  • Walking through a warm manufacturing facility
  • Working onsite Monday - Thursday and remote on Friday
