We are seeking a Collections Intern to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This is an onsite opportunity.


This internship provides hands-on experience supporting or Finance Department.   This role will be responsible for daily collection activities and dispute resolution. They will also be exposed to various aspects of the Finance Department and assist where possible. Such as cash applications, billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, month end processes, etc.


Functions/Responsibilities:

 

  • Daily communications with customers to establish relationships, clean up accounts and ensure billing and payments are being handled timely. 
  • Work with internal teams to resolve orders and billing discrepancies.
  • Manage the Disputes mailbox. (Resolve billing, outage, tax and late fee disputes from customers).
  • Request Certificates of Insurance from Customers.


Requirements

What you bring to the team:

 

  • Business and accounting experience with understanding of basic accounting concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Salesforce experience preferred. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or a recent graduate.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:


This position may be performed in either a standard office setting or a home office environment. It requires prolonged periods of sitting, frequent use of a computer and other office equipment, and effective time management in a self-directed work environment. Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds may be required.

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $20.00/hour depending on location, skills, experience, and other job-related factors. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity.
