The Opportunity

This role forms part of our 12-week paid summer Vacation Program, that runs between November 2026 – February 2027.  Fugro’s Vacation Program is a key recruitment strategy for our future Graduate offers and creates a platform and opportunity for you to gain hands on experience to determine if this career direction is for you, whilst equally showcasing your ability, motivation, and attitude to our team.

As a Vacation Student – Hydrographic Surveyor, here are some of the things you will get to be involved in:

  • Office based assistance with preparation of data deliverables from surveys including processing of multibeam bathymetry data, CAD and GIS work, data management and archiving
  • Exposure to wide range of hydrographic surveying operations including nautical charting, geophysics and geotechnical survey, offshore positioning and construction support, remote operations etc.
  • Exposure to survey and data processing software

Based in West Perth, our Hydrographic Surveying team is able to work as part of our offshore operations or our world class remote operations center. The team captures data to support our Marine Site Characterisation and Marine Asset Integrity areas of the business. Our skilled Hydrographic Surveyors collect data on the natural environment for clients who want to build an asset in a particular location, as well as capturing structural health information to determine repair and maintenance needs of our clients existing assets.

About You

We are interested in taking applicants from the following courses.

  • Bachelor of Surveying (Curtin University)

Your success in securing this role will require:

  • Students with a strong interest in a future career in hydrographic surveying
  • Third year (or higher) students would be preferred
  • Good verbal communication, interfacing and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time well
  • Good teamworking skills
