About the Role

The poster creates an inventory of potential candidates that will be used to staff a variety of internship opportunities.

 

City: Within a National Research Council Office across Canada 

Classification: Various

Duration: 4 to 6 months (with the possibility of extension)

Language Requirements: Various

 

Work arrangements: Depending on the nature of the work and operational requirements, positions hired through this program may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework).  Employees who telework will be required to travel to the designated work site at least three times per week, or a minimum of 60% of their regular work schedule, at their own expense.

The role

The NRC Persons with Disabilities Internship provides individuals with practical experience in a variety of fields including research and development, engineering, and technology, administration, library science, computer science, trades, business, finance, human resources, and other professions. Interns work in a supportive and collaborative environment, while having access to unique and specialized equipment, facilities and expertise.

Length of term

 

Internships last for approximately 4 to 6 months with the possibility of extension.

Who can apply?

 

You are eligible for the NRC Persons with Disabilities Internship if:

 

  • You are a person with a disability
    • Disability: Any impairment, including a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication or sensory impairment—or a functional limitation—whether permanent, temporary or episodic in nature, or evident or not, that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders a person’s full and equal participation in society
  • You have obtained a high school diploma (or grade 12 equivalent)

 

While positions vary, extensive experience is not required.

Condition of employment

 

Reliability Status

For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.

Compensation

 

Individuals hired under the Persons with Disabilities Internship will be compensated at the appropriate salary for the specific position’s classification group and level.

In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements of the specific position will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
