Job Description

What's the opportunity?

RBC’s Chief Audit Executive (CAE) group provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. Our work spans the entire enterprise, offering a unique, end-to-end view of RBC’s businesses, risks, and strategic priorities. This co-op offers a consulting-style experience within Internal Audit, where you will work on a diverse set of strategic, analytical, and problem-solving initiatives beyond traditional audit planning/execution. You will be exposed to real business challenges, ambiguous problem statements, and senior leadership perspectives—mirroring the experience of an internal consultant operating at the function level. This role is ideal for students who enjoy ambiguity, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are excited by the opportunity to influence decisions through insights and storytelling.

What will you do?

  • Work on a variety of project-based initiatives supporting Internal Audit leadership, including strategy, process improvement, analytics, and transformation-related work
  • Tackle ambiguous and evolving problem statements, applying structured thinking to develop clear insights and recommendations
  • Conduct research and analysis across business units, risk areas, and processes to identify themes, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Design, develop and own process improvements enabled by technology and AI
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative ways to solve challenges within the CAE Group
  • Build executive presentations, develop strategy, and communicate business value of projects

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Business, Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Strategy, or a related field)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and a high degree of initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, compelling presentations
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint (or similar tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and think outside the box to develop solutions.

Nice-to-have

  • Interest in Internal Audit, evolving technology, consulting, or enterprise strategy
  • Previous co-op or project-based experience
  • Exposure to analytics, strategy, operations, or business transformation initiatives
  • Experience in stakeholder management, understanding user needs, and presenting insights to non-technical or senior audiences

Please note

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual. At RBC, you will have opportunities to:

  • Network and build lasting relationships with students from diverse backgrounds from across Canada
  • Make a difference and lasting impact through meaningful work
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team

We encourage you to apply as soon as possible as we accept applications on a rolling basis, but please note that the formal application deadline is May 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET.
