About the Role

Safety Intern

Job description

We are seeking a motivated Safety Intern to support our Safety Department and gain hands-on experience in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and hazard prevention within an industrial environment. This internship provides real-world exposure to safety management processes, OSHA recordkeeping, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts—while receiving direct mentoring from experienced safety professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs of shop and office areas alongside the Safety Department to learn how workplace hazards and housekeeping concerns are identified and addressed.
  • Support incident and near-miss reporting activities, including documentation, data entry, and corrective action tracking, while learning proper investigation and follow-up processes.
  • Assist with maintaining OSHA-required records and safety documentation (such as training records and inspection logs), gaining exposure to regulatory compliance and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Support ISNetworld (ISN) functions by assisting with document uploads, verification of training and compliance records, and ensuring data accuracy under the guidance of safety professionals.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of safety communications, including toolbox talks, bulletin postings, and safety newsletters, while learning effective safety communication strategies.
  • Support safety training efforts by helping prepare materials, organize sign-in documentation, and observe training delivery to gain experience in employee safety education.
  • Help monitor PPE compliance and assist with PPE inventory tracking and organization, learning how PPE programs are managed in an industrial environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and observe safety investigations to gain real-world exposure to safety management processes and decision-making.
  • Engage in special safety projects and continuous improvement initiatives, receiving structured learning opportunities, feedback, and mentoring throughout the internship.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Willingness to learn safety procedures and regulations.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in workplace safety or EHS.
