Position Overview

This student internship offers an immersive experience in oncology clinical trials, working directly with our Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) and under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Clinical Research Student Intern will support comprehensive care efforts for patients on clinical trials while gaining foundational oncology knowledge and practical research coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete required clinical trials training within four weeks of hire and participate in ongoing education
  • Assist CRCs in screening patients for clinical trial eligibility through detailed chart reviews
  • Learn and support the informed consent process
  • Gain understanding of protocol therapies, patient education strategies, and documentation
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions about ethical considerations and regulatory compliance
  • Interface with various departments including Nursing, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory
  • Support skill-appropriate clinical tasks such as monitoring vitals, assisting with EKGs, and venipuncture under supervision
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and respect for patient confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Required: Currently enrolled in a College of Nursing program and have completed the first year of coursework

Skills & Abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email communication
  • Basic math skills, including algebra and geometry
  • Ability to draw valid conclusions from data and research findings
