We are seeking ambitious, driven individuals to join our team through two exciting apprenticeship pathways at our Silverstone facility. These opportunities provide hands-on experience within elite motorsport while developing specialist engineering skills through structured training programmes.

Model Technician Apprentice

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Model Technician Apprentice to join our Aerodynamics department in partnership with The Engineering Trust. This apprenticeship provides the chance to develop specialist engineering and model-making expertise while contributing to the precision models used within our wind tunnel testing programme — an essential part of Formula 1® car development.

  • Assist in the manufacture of detailed wind tunnel components using 3D printing, CNC processes, and hand-finishing techniques.
  • Interpret CAD models and engineering drawings to produce highly accurate parts and assemblies.
  • Support the assembly, modification, and maintenance of aerodynamic test models within a wind tunnel environment.
  • Learn and apply key workshop processes including trimming, bonding, part preparation, spray finishing, and precision fitting.
  • Work with a variety of materials including composites, rapid prototyping materials, and metals.

Test Technician Apprentice

The Test Technician Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to develop within a world-class motorsport environment, supporting the performance, reliability, and safety of vehicle systems and components through rigorous testing and validation.

This role will provide practical experience across advanced testing operations while equipping apprentices with the technical skills needed to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement at the highest level of motorsport.

  • Assist in performing tests on vehicle systems and components while learning how to document results accurately.
  • Become compliant with quality and safety regulations during testing procedures.
  • Support the engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving issues identified during testing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing protocols and procedures.
  • Consistently follow Health & Safety, Compliance, Sustainability policies, and best practices.

What do you need to bring to the team?

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (grade 4/C or above), including Maths and English.
  • A genuine interest in motorsport, engineering, manufacturing, or model making.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent practical hand skills.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn within a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to develop technical expertise.
  • Previous hands-on experience with model kits, workshop projects, engineering design, or technical hobbies would be advantageous, though not essential.

Training Provider: The Engineering Trust
