About The Company
Sagamok First Nation is located on the north shore of Lake Huron. It is a beautiful community whose name means 'two points joining'. Sagamok's culture and language is Anishinabek and is made up of the Ojibwe, Odawa and Pottawatomi tribes. Also known as the Three Fires Peoples, the community members of Sagamok number well over 2800. A little over 50% of the membership lives on reserve, with the remainder living in urban locations. Sagamok is a place of rich stories, legends and history that derive from time immemorial. Once the summer camps of the original peoples who came down from Biscotasing, it is now the permanent home to many of those descendents. About the Role

SUMMER STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITY

Communications Assistant - Poster Designer - 12 weeks

Salary Range: $20.00 per hour




JOB SUMMARY:


The Communications Assistant – Poster Designer supports the IT & Communications Department by creating visually engaging promotional materials for community events, programs, and celebrations within the community of Sagamok Anishnawbek. Working alongside the Communications Team, this role helps promote community engagement through creative and effective graphic design.

 

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Design posters and promotional materials for upcoming community events, programs, and celebrations. 

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Team to ensure designs align with organizational messaging and branding. 

  • Create visually appealing layouts using graphic design software and digital tools. 

  • Support additional communications and creative projects as assigned. 


 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Preference will be given to members or residents of Sagamok Anishnawbek 
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset 
  • Must sign and comply with confidentiality requirements 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must demonstrate enrollment as a full-time student in the previous academic semester school and be returning full time in the fall of 2026/2027 Academic school year.
  • Must be eligible for Sagamok Anishnawbek ISETP program funding (member of Sagamok, valid SIN #) 
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid, WHIMIS, & Health and Safety in 4 Steps 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and email software 
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and able to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) and be self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek values, teachings, culture, and traditions is of critical importance.
