Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today’s challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future.
Our platform orchestrates millions of real-time decisions across homes, devices, markets and grids. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable, affordable and adaptive to everyday life.
With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.
The Role
You'll work on live, high-stakes problems - using AI to accelerate how a climate tech company goes to market, tells its story, and wins. This isn't a shadow-someone internship. You'll own a real brief, present to leadership, and if it works out, stay.
The Growth Team owns how Kaluza goes to market: positioning and narrative, marketing and communications, brand, product marketing, strategy, and innovation. We're a small team with a disproportionate impact on where the company goes next.
We’re looking for ‘Mavericks’ to join us for an internship programme - not afraid to take risks, question the status quo, and pursue ideas that could lead to new innovations and transformations - increasing Kaluza’s impact.
What is Kaluza EI Labs?
Kaluza EI (Energy Intelligence) Labs is a targeted 8 to 10 week summer internship programme. This is not a traditional internship; it is a two-way innovation exchange. You will join another high-potential student to solve live, high-impact problems while helping us embed fresh, AI-native perspectives into our company strategy.
This programme is for the restless, the builders, the scientists, and the problem-solvers who see what could be instead of settling for what already exists - across Kaluza's markets, the customers we serve today, how we embed AI in our product and strategy, and how we set ourselves up as an AI-first company.
The Structure
You will be embedded in Kaluza’s Growth Team, the function that shapes our market strategy and translates the future of energy into product stories. Your fellowship is structured as follows:
Week 1: Onboarding and Orientation – Get immersed in Kaluza’s platform, meet the team, and get set up with our tools.
Weeks 2-3: Discovery Sprint – Conduct desk research and stakeholder conversations to shape your specific problem and approach.
Weeks 4-6: Build and Apply – The core of the fellowship. You will work on a live brief using AI tools to go further and faster than traditional methods allow.
Week 7: Synthesis – Pull together your findings, shape your final output, and prepare your presentation.
Week 8: Demo Day and Debrief – Present your work to the Growth Team and Kaluza leadership.
Potential Project Areas
All projects are designed AI-first, using agent orchestration and intelligent tooling as the default approach. You may work on areas such as:
AI-Native GTM Engineering: Mapping and rebuilding Growth Team workflows using agent orchestration to eliminate manual work.
Market Intelligence Engine: Building automated competitor and market signal tracking to feed strategic planning in real-time.
Kaluza Environmental Impact Framework: Designing an AI-assisted framework to quantify CO2 is placed through flexibility and avoided grid emissions.
Brand Experience System: Building a scalable brand system with AI-powered asset generation across touchpoints.
About You
Academic Background: Currently studying for or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Strategy/Business Operations, Journalism, Writing, Design, Graphic Design, Software Engineering, or a related field.
AI-Curious: You should be actively using AI tools in your work and thinking about what they make possible.
A Self-Starter: You are comfortable in a fast-paced environment and have a bias towards doing. You would rather build something useful than a perfect deck.
Mission-Driven: You care deeply about the energy transition and being part of the solution.
What You’ll Get
A real path to a role: Successful completion of the fellowship may lead to a full-time role at Kaluza.
Mentorship: You will be paired with a day-to-day mentor from the Growth Team and a senior project sponsor.
Work that matters: Kaluza sits at the centre of the energy transition. The problems you work on this summer will shape how millions of homes use clean energy. An AI edge: you'll leave with hands-on experience applying AI to real commercial problems in climate tech, not a hypothetical case study.
Kaluza Values
Here at Kaluza we have five core values that guide us as a business: Play to win, Solve the real problem, Build trust every day, Own the outcome, Go further together.
We want the best people
We’re keen to meet people from all walks of life — our view is that the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We want to build teams which represent a variety of experiences, perspectives and skills, and we recognise talent on the basis of merit and potential.
We understand some people may not apply for jobs unless they tick every box. But if you're excited about joining us and think you have some of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure, we'd still love to hear from you.
