About the Role

New North Citizens Council, Inc. (NNCC)

Position Title: Youth Worker (YouthWorks Program – Internship Placement)

Program: YouthWorks

Reports to: YouthWorks Peer Leader 

Job Description: NNCC’s YouthWorks Program supports youth and young adults ages 14–24 in achieving success in employment readiness, academics, and career development. The Youth Worker is a program participant who is placed at an external worksite to gain hands-on job experience while continuing to build essential professional and life skills.

Through this internship placement, the Youth Worker contributes to the daily operations of the host site while fostering personal, social, and educational growth. This role provides an opportunity to apply learned skills in a real-world setting and develop workplace readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in assigned tasks and projects at the external worksite in a professional and responsible manner
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
  • Apply skills gained through YouthWorks, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
  • Engage in ongoing learning opportunities such as tutoring, skill-building, and job-readiness activities
  • Follow workplace policies, procedures, and supervision guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, mentors, and program staff
  • Actively explore career interests and pathways through hands-on experience

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled participant in the NNCC Youth Works Program
  • Ages 14–24
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a professional environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take direction
  • Commitment to personal development and program participation
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at assigned worksite satisfactorily.
