About the Role

Title: Human Resources Student 

Job Status: Full-time, Contract, May 25 to August 28, 2026 (Existing Role)

Job Region: All Blue Door Locations (Hybrid/Remote)

Salary: $20/hour


Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Student will support the HR team with administrative responsibilities and tasks including but not limited to recruitment, training and development and health and safety.
 
 Responsibilities

  • Organize, file, and maintain employee personnel files in accordance with confidentiality and record‑keeping requirements 
  • Provide general HR administrative support including data entry, document tracking, and file audits 
  • Screen resumes and assist with candidate shortlisting for open positions 
  • Conduct telephone or virtual pre‑screen interviews as assigned 
  • Schedule interviews and support recruitment coordination and documentation 
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation logistics for new hires 
  • Schedule training sessions and track completion of mandatory training and certifications 
  • Update and maintain training records and follow up on outstanding or expiring requirements 
  • Assist with updating and formatting job postings, job descriptions, and interview materials 
  • Support the HR team with additional duties and projects as required

  • Working cooperatively alongside and supporting all Blue Door team members and departments.

  • Able and willing to promote harm reduction practices in accordance with core standards. 
  • Attend internal staff meetings and staff training as required.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all client and agency information.
  • Fosters positive and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues, community partners and volunteers. 
  • Provides referrals and follow-up as necessary.
  • Meets with manager on a regular basis and participates in completion of annual performance evaluation.

Occupational Health & Safety

  • All employees are responsible for carrying out work in a way that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others. 
  • All employees shall learn and understand health and safety policies and procedures and will comply with them.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • The ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ADP is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Monday.com is an asset.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Valid Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and insurance. Ability to travel throughout York and Durham Region.
