Who We Are
Highlight Health is a fast-growing startup with offices in Old City Philadelphia, PA and Newark, NJ. We’re on a mission to fight against high-cost hospital bills and make healthcare more transparent and fairer to everyone. We use data-driven methods and innovative technology to identify and eliminate fraud, waste, abuse, and overpricing in the healthcare industry.
Position Overview
Highlight Health offers a collaborative environment that fosters your learning and development. You will be encouraged to bring your ideas to the table, and you will find that your suggestions are valued as we strive to continually enhance our healthcare claims data processes.
We are building a new claims intelligence platform from the ground up. You would join the build team and help launch the product. You'll report to our Project Manager and rotate across workstreams such as data, testing, documentation, and project coordination. You'll work alongside engineers, claims analysts, and domain experts on a live product build.
Highlight Health aims to extend summer interns into the school year and transition the right candidates into full-time positions.
What You'll Do
- Data and reference tables: Acquire, document, and validate external datasets the platform depends on. Download source files, document layouts, spot-check values, and deliver clean data to the engineering team.
- Testing and QA: Execute test cases against the platform. Verify functions, UI behavior, and workflow transitions. Document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps. Participate in validation against real claims data.
- Documentation and project coordination: Keep the project wiki and sprint board current. Capture meeting notes and action items. Draft workflow diagrams, process descriptions, and user guides. Help ensure every story has acceptance criteria and reflects current status.
- Claims domain: Shadow the claims team to understand how claims move from intake through repricing through delivery. Participate in review sessions. Help prepare sample data for demos and pilot validation.
- Platform operations: Support the reference data update cycle when CMS publishes new rates. Coordinate UAT between engineering and claims analysts. Assist with onboarding documentation for new team members.
What You'll Learn
How Medicare repricing actually works. How a healthcare platform is architected and built. How to work in Azure DevOps. How agile sprints run on a real project. How AI is used in production healthcare workflows. How HIPAA shapes every decision.
