About the Role

Description

The Village of Lemont Finance Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist with a variety of administrative and financial operations tasks. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in municipal/business finance operations, billing processes, customer account management, and financial recordkeeping.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain practical experience in finance, accounting, business administration, or public administration.

Position Responsibilities

The selected candidate will assist the Finance Department with the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Assist with utility/customer billing processes, including:
    • Billing cycles
    • Late notices
    • Shut-off processing
    • Billing exceptions and account reviews
  • Update and maintain departmental process documentation
  • Support eBilling system testing and troubleshooting efforts
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and related financial recordkeeping
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Department as needed

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or financial software
  • Interest in local government, finance operations, or administrative services
