The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay works to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay has been on the forefront of youth development, working with young people from all backgrounds for over 80 years. We serve an average of 3,000 youth daily at our 22 Clubs throughout Hillsborough and Pasco Counties. Our Clubs offer fun and safety for our young members while they receive support and guidance from professional youth development staff.
About the Role




POSITION TITLE:    Youth Development Professional Intern

DEPARTMENT:         Operations

REPORTS TO:           Club Director

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Intern will acquire knowledge of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay and understand how the Club's programs and operations create a rich development environment that leads to a deepening impact resulting in positive youth outcomes.

 

EXPERIENCE WILL INCLUDE:

  • Orientation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay & Boys
  • Overview of Organization Policies & Procedures
  • Roles & Responsibilities of the Program Staff
  • Overview of Boys & Girls Club Programs & Activities
  • Hands on experience with Club Members: homework assistance, tutoring, or other activities as assigned by the Club Director


Specific job tasks may include:

  • Reading with a child
  • Helping with art activities, games room, or gym
  • Coaching a sports team
  • Assisting with Special Events
  • Chaperoning Field Trips
  • Serving as a Resource Speaker – share a talent or career
  • Assisting at the Membership Desk Clerk (answering phones, signing club members in and out)
  • Assisting with clerical duties at the Administrative Office
  • Other learning opportunities as they occur


Summer Term: 320 hours, full-time hours


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Creativity with the ability to make tasks seem fun.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Must be responsible.
  • Must be able to engage with school children of all ages.
  • Successfully complete organization sponsored CPR training within 90 days of hire.

 

TRAVEL:

 

Travel may be require multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Hernando, Pasco and Pinellas County for training and/or other business purposes.
