Job DetailsJob Location: Energy Solutions Weatherization Christiansburg - Christiansburg, VA 24073Position Type: InternshipSalary Range: $19.00Travel Percentage: Up to 50% The Weatherization Technician Intern supports the Energy Solutions division of CHP by assisting with residential energy-efficiency projects that improve home performance and occupant well-being. This role involves hands-on fieldwork, adherence to established standards and regulations, and collaboration with team members to complete projects effectively. The position requires initiative, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Work hours may vary based on project demands. The typical schedule is Monday to Thursday, four 10-hour days with a 30-minute lunch break. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Daily daytime travel is required, with up to 50% overnight travel, as well as occasional evening and weekend work. This seasonal position runs from mid-May through mid-August, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role based on performance and business needs. Job Objectives Perform Weatherization Work Install insulation, construction materials, and complete repairs. Seal and improve duct systems. Ensure Quality, Safety, and Compliance Follow standards, codes, and safety protocols. Deliver safe, high-quality work. Assess and Communicate Identify, document, and report improvement needs. Communicate with team members. Support Efficiency and Growth Improve processes and collaborate with team. Build skills and take on advanced tasks. Complete additional assigned duties. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic math skills. Ability to safely and effectively use and maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for the job. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with clients regarding the scope of work. Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets CHP insurability guidelines. Technical Abilities Basic proficiency with computers and mobile devices for documentation and communication. Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Specialized vocational certification or training preferred.
