Internship Overview

The UFP CFS Summer Internship is a structured, hands-on learning program designed to provide exposure to the concrete formwork industry, estimating, design, and project execution. Interns will gain technical knowledge, practical fabrication experience, and direct insight into field operations, while working alongside industry experts.

This 13-week program blends classroom-style learning, real-world project involvement, and mentorship to prepare interns for a full-time career in construction estimating, design, or operations.

UFP CFS Internship (May 18th – August 18th)

  • Paid internship $17.50 per hour 
  • Full Time internship Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30pm 
  • Location Berthoud CO – 2321 Clayton Pl 
  • Holidays: May 25th & July 3rd  
     

What You Will Learn & Do

Foundational Training (Weeks 1–3)

  • Introduction to UFP CFS operations, products, and industry applications
  • Formwork fundamentals and lumber knowledge (including plywood and engineered wood products)
  • Safety training (tools, equipment, and basic form fabrication)
  • Exposure to internal systems (Lynx, SharePoint, Bluebeam, Citrix, etc.)
  • Introduction to design team structure and capabilities
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans and estimating templates

Technical & Hands-On Experience (Weeks 4–7)

  • CNC formwork concepts, design, programming, and fabrication
  • Building and estimating vertical and horizontal formwork systems (walls, columns, slabs, shoring)
  • Participation in fabrication of formwork systems (rollbacks, platforms, etc.)
  • Commodity purchasing exposure (lumber and plywood sourcing)
  • Collaboration with sales and regional teams
  • Field visits and live demonstrations (including job site interactions and customer exposure)

Project-Based Learning (Weeks 8–13)

  • Estimating real construction projects using Bluebeam and internal tools
  • Reviewing bids with Project Managers and receiving feedback
  • Visiting active job sites and observing project execution
  • Supporting ongoing fabrication and production efforts

Mentorship & Development

Interns will be supported by experienced leaders in the industry, including:

  • National Formwork Director
  • Senior Project Managers
  • Design and CNC Programming Leaders

This mentorship ensures hands-on guidance, professional development, and exposure to multiple career pathways within UFP.

Career Path Opportunities

This internship serves as a direct pipeline into a full-time Estimator I role with UFP CFS. The Estimator I position focuses on preparing accurate bids and quotes for a variety of formwork systems including:

  • Columns and walls
  • Shoring and structural platforms
  • CNC and custom formwork solutions

With strong performance, employees can grow into roles in:

  • Project Management

  • Sales
  • Operations

Advancement opportunities are available after one year, with potential for nationwide career mobility.

 

Hourly Pay:  $17.50 per hour
