Position Summary

At United Electric Supply, our Summer Internship Program was created to give real-world experience — not busy work.

As a Summer Intern, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to multiple areas of our business while contributing to meaningful, high-impact projects. From warehouse operations and logistics to finance, marketing, purchasing, and sales support, you’ll experience how a large, multi-regional electrical distributor operates and how each department works together to serve our customers.

This program is built for students who are curious, driven, and eager to grow. You won’t just observe, you’ll participate, collaborate, and present your work to leadership.

What You’ll Get Out of It

🔎 Real Projects (Not Busy Work)

You’ll work on meaningful, high-impact projects based on real business needs, not side tasks.

Each intern is assigned project work aligned with their location and business priorities. You’ll collaborate with mentors, contribute to improvements, and present your outcomes to hiring managers and leadership.

You’ll leave with tangible experience you can confidently speak to in future interviews.

🧠 “Master’s Class in Distribution”

Spend a day at our Corporate Headquarters in New Castle, DE for an inside look at how a large, multi-regional company operates.

You’ll:

  • Sit in on an executive-level meeting
  • See how leadership collaborates and makes strategic decisions
  • Learn how departments like Accounting, Purchasing, HR, Operations, and Sales connect
  • Understand the bigger picture behind day-to-day work

🎯 Personality & Career Insight

We utilize a personality assessment called OAD, to help you better understand:

  • Your workplace strengths
  • Communication style
  • Motivators and preferences
  • Natural leadership tendencies

We’ll help you connect those insights to potential career paths — whether at United or beyond.

🤝 Weekly Intern Huddles + Professional Development Experience

Each week, you’ll join fellow interns for collaborative huddle sessions designed to help you grow both personally and professionally.

This isn’t just a check-in.

We work through a structured intern development workbook together — blending real-world workplace insight with foundational leadership development.

Topics include:

  • Workplace etiquette and the unwritten rules of professional environments
  • Navigating generational differences and communicating effectively across them
  • Overcoming early-career obstacles with resilience
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Professional communication norms
  • Accountability, ownership, and growth mindset
  • Understanding company culture and how to thrive within it

Part leadership development, part real talk — these sessions are interactive, practical, and honest.

You’ll build awareness, confidence, and professional maturity that will benefit you long after the internship ends.

📚 Career Readiness & Lifelong Learning

In addition to group development sessions, you’ll complete online courses focused on:

  • Professional confidence
  • Workplace communication
  • Time management
  • Continuous improvement

Because learning doesn’t stop when the internship does.
