Join our Oak Creek, WI team as a Communications Intern! Our internships are hands on and designed to let you see what it's like to work at Astronautics. This is a paid undergraduate intern opportunity. As a communications intern, you will work closely with our communications and human resources staff. Our summer intern program consists of at least 10 weeks of real world experience in a professional environment.
Mentors are assigned to assist interns in achieving engineering related career development that is of mutual benefit to you and Astronautics. Our internship program includes events and opportunities to meet other interns and employees across the organization.
This role will also provide an opportunity for professional development that results in contribution to the on-going business needs of Astronautics.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain communication processes, procedures, and supporting documentation
- Write feature articles and spotlight pieces for the weekly email update and website
- Research and create presentation materials for STEM outreach activities
- Draft press releases
- Update and create marketing material
- Support upcoming trade show
- Collaborate with team on new ideas for marketing and communication
- Attend weekly departmental meetings
- Other duties to be assigned
Desired Skills:
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Capability of working independently with limited oversight
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Sophomore/Junior/Senior standing majoring in Journalism, Marketing/Communications, Public Relations, or English from an accredited institution
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Professional communicator with both internal and external audiences
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multitask, and meet deadlines
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0
- Able to work full-time during the summer
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
Desired Qualifications:
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
- Knowledge of Word Press, video, and graphic design a plus
- Ability to work part-time during the school year
