About the Role

Containerships, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, is a leader in multimodal logistics and door-to-door intra-Europe transport. Containerships' door-to-door solutions connect Northwest Europe, the Baltic countries and Russia with the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and Morocco via short sea routes, rail, road and inland waterways, thus combining various modes of transport with innovative logistics services for a secure and cost-effective customer experience. Containerships is also a European leader in sustainable transport thanks to its fleet of LNG powered vessels and trucks.

Position: VIE – HR Strategy & Transformation Partner

Reporting to: HR Director SSL North

Legal Entity: Containerships – CMA CGM GmbH

CMA CGM: global shipping & logistics leader (420 ports, 160,000 people), Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

YOUR ROLE

As VIE – HR Strategy & Transformation Partner for SSL North, you spend 24 months inside one of CMA CGM’s most complex HR matrices: 16 countries, 8 with Containerships HQ, regional HQ Hamburg. You report to the HR Director SSL North.

Differentiator: HR will not sit apart from the business. You will tap into our operational ecosystem — terminals, freight forwarders, peer carriers — to identify synergies, talent pools and joint projects that pull HR closer to where the industry actually moves.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Catalyst for a high-performance, network-connected HR function

In Hamburg, three entities (Containerships/SSL North, CMA CGM Agency, CMA Ships) share HR Admin, Payroll, L&D and HRBP. You redesign how HR operates and deploy AI responsibly.

1. Shared HR Operating Model (Hamburg)

  • Map shared HR processes; cut duplication, set service levels, harmonise onboarding & policy across the three entities.

2. Talent Acquisition & Early-Career Pipeline

  • Anchor KLU Hamburg & peer schools; build intern → graduate pathway; one Hamburg employer voice with CMA CGM Agency Germany.

3. AI-Enabled HR & Smart Tooling

  • Pilot AI in HR/Payroll/L&D with measurable gains; GDPR-compliant; aligned with Group HR and IT.

4. Operational Network & Industry Collaboration

  • Leverage the wider operational network — terminals, freight forwarders, port community, peer carriers — to spot talent, joint training and project opportunities. Build HR’s presence in industry forums so we benefit from the same network our business runs on.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Master’s (Bac+5): HR, business or organisational psychology.
  • At ease in matrix settings; strong written communication.
  • Confident with AI tools and aware of their limits in HR.
  • Curious about industry networks; comfortable engaging external partners.
  • Real interest in shipping & logistics.
  • Fluent English; German a strong plus; French welcome.
  • VIE eligibility: under 28, EU/EEA, no prior VIE.
