Overview:

As a Network and Systems Intern at Blackfoot Communications, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and updating our telecommunications plant record system. This position is ideal for a methodical and detail-oriented individual who is proficient with computer and data systems. You will gain hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry, working alongside experienced professionals to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data. Your motivation and dedication will contribute to the overall success of our network engineering projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain accurate FNT records based on field-validated audits of racks, patch panels, and installed equipment to ensure system records reflect physical network conditions
  • Conduct field and records audits to validate network equipment details, connectivity, and documentation accuracy in the plant record system
  • Audit network spares, verify inventory locations and part information, and build or update spares records in FNT to improve visibility and operational readiness
  • Support out-of-band (OOB) network projects alongside Network Engineer through documentation, record creation, and data validation, with a focus on administrative support rather than live network changes

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with network engineering and field personnel to confirm that FNT records, inventory data, and supporting documentation remain accurate and up to date
  • Perform other related tasks and administrative support duties as assigned to advance network documentation, inventory readiness, and systems data quality

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Understanding different data sets and how to effectively move it from one system to another
  • Basic time management and organizational best practices

Skills to:

  • Communicate ideas clearly and confidently, both in-person and virtually
  • Analyze and report on data, including how to present the data and solutions to a team
  • Stay organized and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment

Ability to:

  • Learn new concepts within the telecommunications vertical
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Meet with technicians and engineers in the field to discuss and problem solve
  • Think analytically and offer creative problem-solving solutions
  • Communicate professionally through written and verbal interactions
  • Meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintain confidentiality and support a positive team culture
  • Maintain a valid Montana driver’s license, clean driving record, and meet Company insurance requirements
